We asked Chinese photographer Fish Zhang, who resides in Japan, to photograph Japan’s latest fabrics. Her bright reds and “dry” tone are what we think of as quintessentially Chinese, while her lm photography has a nostalgic effect. These two elements combined create an ethereal scene of metropolitan Tokyo. We hope you’ll be amused by this mix of photos of the latest in Japanese textiles.

This theme features lightweight, dark-toned chambray twill crafted with glossy velvet and lame threads. The image envisioned here is of neon shining brightly against a dark background. These pieces are finished with contrasting details such as foil print and silicon coating.

キーポイントは、山肌にインスピレーションを受けたかのようなテキスタイルのサーフェイス。アースカラーやベージュの起毛したコットン素材や短い毛足のファー、コーデュロイに加工を施したり、激しいダメージ加工やジャカードのデニムなどが、このテーマにピッタリ。天然素材のような合繊素材もイチオシ。
The key point of this theme is the fabric surface, which is inspired by the idea of mountains. The pieces feature various attributes designed to fit this theme precisely, including brushed cotton fabrics of earth tones such as beige, shaggy fur and corduroy, intense processing, jacquard denim and more. The synthetic fabrics shown here--made to look like natural fabrics--are highly recommended.

このテーマでは、エスニックな柄やカラー、テクニックをベースにしながらも、実際のテキスタイルには軽さや機能性を付与し、あえて都会的な雰囲気に。カラーも赤や赤茶などのエスニックカラーが中心。
This theme is based on ethnic design and colors as well as techniques. These pieces are made of light, highly functional textiles designed to create an urban sense of style. The colors are also mainly ethnic tones, including red and reddish-brown.

グレンチェックや千鳥格子といったオーセンティックな柄を再解釈。メリノウールなどの上質でファインなウール素材を、ダブルフェースやボンディングで仕立て、ソフトなタッチとハリのある風合いを生み出している。
The theme here reinterprets authentic patterns such as glen check and hounds tooth. Utilizing quality fine wool such as merino, these pieces are finished with double facing and bonding, creating a soft finish.
